The 2017 Jeep Wrangler is as All-American as it Looks!

The Fourth of July may have come and passed, but to many Americans, patriotism is a year-round affair. In a Cars.com survey, 25 percent of respondents said they would only buy a car from an American manufacturer.

That's dedication, but it can be difficult to tell in this modern globalized economy exactly which cars were made here. A brand with an American headquarters may manufacture their vehicles abroad, and a vehicle assembled in the U.S. may be made with foreign parts.

In steps the Cars.com American-Made Index (AMI). This list ranks the American-ness of current-year models based on five categories:

  • Assembly-plant location
  • Percentage of domestic parts
  • Number of U.S. employees supported by each sale
  • American-made engine
  • American-made transmission

With 74 percent domestic parts, the Ohio-built 2017 Jeep Wrangler shoots to the top of this year's AMI. This iconic American SUV traces its ancestry back to the original military vehicles used by the Allies in World War II. Today, it's still as American as ever.
