Don't Change Your Oil Every 3,000 Miles

You may have heard that your engine's oil needs to be changed every 3,000 miles. While that may have been a good guideline in years past, today's vehicles can go much longer without needing fresh oil. It is likely that your vehicle can go as long as 7,500 miles between oil changes.

To determine the exact frequency at which your oil needs to be changed, read your owner's manual. The vehicle itself may also keep track of how long it has been since the oil was last replaced and issue an alert when it needs to be done. If you don't drive that often, make sure to have the oil changed at least once a year.

When it's time for an oil change stop by our service department at Lithia Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram FIAT of Eugene in Eugene, OR for assistance. While there, it may be possible to inspect the rest of the vehicle in a timely manner.
